CheatMaps

CheatMaps is an app developed by grad students at Colorado Western University. The app lets users map out invasive native plant species in the Gunnison Valley area to alert local environmental scientists and land management authorities about their growth patterns. Cheat Grass in particular is an invasive species that threatens the ecosystems of the famous Gunnison Sage Grouse, a native bird species that is quite the celebrity in the area for their hilarious antics. CheatMaps came to me as a freelace designer to create a t-shirt and sticker design for  volunteers at an upcoming outreach event. They wanted a design that didn't take itself too seriously so that volunteers would be compelled to wear the hats and use the stickers for years to come while being a conversation starter for the app. These stickers feature the famous Gunnison Sage Grouse donning a cowboy hat in front of a classic Gunnison, Colorado landscape.
